Nigel Brooksby appointed to Cogent SSC Board

Cogent today announces the Board appointment of pharmaceutical industry leader and champion Nigel Brooksby. Mr Brooksby will represent the life sciences industry on the Cogent Board, and is also the Chair of the Cogent Life Sciences Skills Strategy Board.

Mr Brooksby’s career in the pharmaceuticals industry spans 38 years and saw him rise through the ranks to the position of Sanofi UK/Ireland Ltd Chairman & Managing Director.  He now holds several Life Sciences, Academic and Government positions at senior board level.

Mr Brooksby said: “I am delighted to be joining the Cogent Board, to represent the life sciences industry, and support Cogent's work in growing vocational skills as well as developing the right kind of undergraduate and post-graduate courses to satisfy the strategically important science-based Sector.

“The UK is a world leader in life sciences, and it is a sector vital to the future prosperity of the country. Cogent is driving a coordinated approach to workforce development in the sector; this means enhancing the skills of existing workers and developing new talent.”

Nigel Brooksby joined the pharmaceutical industry as a medical sales representative, and has completed his term as President of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, a position he combined with his role as Chairman and Managing Director of Sanofi-aventis UK, Europe’s largest pharmaceutical company.
