Energy Foresight brings an exciting new perspective to the teaching of Radioactive Materials area of the Physics curriculum. The initial pilot of 130 schools during 2005 in the North West and London areas was highly successful and was endorsed by the Open University after a full evaluation of the materials and training.

The current phase funded by a grant of £750,000 from the NDA builds on that success, with a new film addressing nuclear waste and the NDA’s activities, together with updated materials and website. As well as addressing the physics behind radioactivity, the materials highlight the employment opportunities in the nuclear industry in health, power, decommissioning, and waste management.

Delivery of this stage of the programme will commenced last month and will run for a year. It will be a major step forward in bringing balanced information on nuclear matters - power production, radiation and health, and waste management - into the classroom to help deliver the national curriculum”

It raises awareness of the industry and we are encouraging employers to support the project in any way they can.”
