In December last year Cogent
Chairman Dr John Beacham was interviewed by the Telegraph’s Martin Baker.
The interview centred around John
Beacham’s role with Cogent and his views on working with the public sector and
government. Said John, “pretty well everything from the business world is
portable – particularly the skills of managing projects, vision and strategy.”
He said that the Cogent role excites
him, “upskilling is a key strategy – nearly 50 per cent of the workforce in
these sectors will need to be upskilled to compete in the future. The SSCs sit
between the providers and the users – business.”
He also took the opportunity to
reiterate his view that high quality leadership is key, ” it’s not easy to
create the vision, the drive, the will to empower employees and then to mentor
them…we need a lot more of that in the public sector.”
