The
Scottish Government has announced the first details of Scotland's new skills body, which will be
created by merging Careers Scotland, Learndirect Scotland and the majority of the
skills and training functions of the enterprise networks. An interim board has been established with
Billy Allan, current chairman of the University for Industry, as interim
chairman and Donald Henderson, formerly head of Teachers Division within the
Scottish Government's Schools Directorate, as interim chief executive to manage
the transition programme.
The
details were confirmed by the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong
Learning, Fiona Hyslop MSP, at the Scottish Parliament's Economy, Energy and
