Cogent is the expert, employer-led body delivering strategic solutions to the skills needs of our industries. We develop and maintain occupational standards, provide skills audits and development plans, and advise on the skills and qualifications necessary for businesses to perform safely, effectively and profitably.

Rolled-out nationally by the Learning and Skills Council across England and has been developed from the Employer Training Pilots.

We offer:

» Knowledge of the extent and quality of training provision

» Excellent understanding of how skills contribute to business

Whilst the majority of the information that Cogent offers is free we can also provide other products and services including competence assurance, skills audits, skills development plans, accreditation, bespoke research and labour market intelligence, and, broker training and development.

Cogent offers a membership scheme. Member benefits include information, advice and guidance as well as the latest in funding opportunities. We also ask our members to participate in surveys and forums and invite them to regional forums and networks.
