Cogent the Skills Council for the Nuclear Industry and partner organisation the The National Skills Academy for Nuclear are delighted to announce their second collaborative UK Nuclear Skills Awards Dinner, which will be held at the Palace Hotel, Manchester on the 11th February 2010.
At the Awards Dinner Cogent will present its Award for “Outstanding Leadership in Skills” and is now calling for entries. This award recognises the efforts of an individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to ensure the nuclear sector has the skills it needs to continue to be a world-class industry.
The judges are looking for someone who’s led a skills project beyond their job description; who’s driven forward innovation; who’s contributed to the wider community and who’s led a nationally driven initiative.
Last year the award was awarded to Jillian Bundy, the Manager for the Dounreay Training & Development Department. Here, people were encouraged to shine and grow their talent and potential through the innovative Windmills programme to assist them in looking to their future in a changed environment.
All nominations for next year’s award will be considered by an internal Cogent panel and the winner will be officially announced at the high profile dinner, where they’ll be presented with their award in front of several hundred nuclear employers and stakeholders.
Cogent CEO, Joanna Woolf presented Jillian with her Award in March this year. She said: “The high standard of entries and the wealth of leadership across the nuclear skills agenda is a testament to the commitment of this industry’s commitment to people. We encourage individuals to enter for next year to highlight their own talents and to support the industry in raising its profile for excellence in skills.”
