Pharmaceutical staff in the South East of England can now access a specialist web-based skills service offering advice on redeployment and re-training and funding support.
The Technical Skills Project has already been helping marine and aerospace companies with access and signposting to publicly funded skills and training initiatives.
The SEEDA funded project has worked alongside the South East Health Technologies Alliance- with 800 member companies in the SE- and will be focusing on support for Pfizer Global Manufacturing and their existing arrangements for the proactive redeployment of staff who may be “at risk” of redundancy. See below for full details.

SEEDA - Technical Skills
Project
16 Mar 2009
The Technical
Skills Project (TSP), a SEEDA funded initiative which aims to work with
employers on a sector wide basis to support training, redeployment and
up-skilling initiatives is now live.
The TSP
programme has responded to the need expressed by employers, initially in the
aerospace and marine sectors, who generally found it difficult to engage with
the public sector offering and were totally confused by the plethora of
initiatives available to them. The programme seeks to “hide the wiring” and
support access to the public sector offering at all levels funding,
up-skilling, training and research opportunities.
A key facet of
the programme, which is the main focus of this letter, is to invite you to
utilise the projects online E-Recruitment system called CWeb. The system is a
web-based Placement Support and Job Vacancy database system, which helps
support employees at risk of redundancy to find new work in the same sector,
while also providing employers with direct access to people wishing to work in
the same sector. In effect this is a “Shop Window” for those companies seeking
to recruit and for people seeking work, in the same sector. It is a free
service funded by SEEDA to support the sector through retaining skills in the
industry across the region.
The benefits of
registering on the CWeb system include:
Increased visibility of and free
access to people seeking employment in the sector. The system ensures
confidentiality and individual profiles remain anonymous to prospective
employers within the system
Employers seeking to recruit can
express their interest in as many people as they wish and the system is
set up to facilitate contact between both parties, should they wish to
proceed
Employers are not only able to
view all candidates in the system, but also upload as many vacancies as
they wish - free of charge
Provide opportunities for all
those seeking work to view your vacancies and contact you directly - in
effect the system offers free recruitment
The project will
be working with Pfizer Global Manufacturing over the coming months to support
their existing arrangements for the proactive redeployment of staff who may be
“at risk” of redundancy.
We would like to
invite you to register on the CWeb system to gain visibility of prospective
employees and have free access to this sector focused recruitment facility. The
process should only take a few minutes and be accessed through the support website or
directly via the registration
portal
