Invitation to Tender: Assessment/Accreditation of Employer Training Against a Nationally Recognised Basic Common Induction Standard and other Training across the Nuclear Sector
The
National Skills Academy for Nuclear is seeking an Awarding Body to work as a
formal partner in the review of different programmes of induction (and
potentially in the future other) training currently delivered by the Site
Licensing Companies (SLCs) in the Nuclear sector. The work will include a review of the
different induction training and an analysis against the agreed nationally
recognised Basic Common Induction Standard (BCIS), see appendix 1 for more
details.
This
analysis will measure each induction programme delivered against the BCIS, gaps
will be identified, these gaps will then be highlighted to the SLCs, so that
the gaps can be filled accordingly. Once the SLC confirms that the gaps have
been addressed then verification will be needed by the Awarding Body to confirm
the BCIS is being achieved. This process will allow the SLCs to reduce the time
and cost of induction training by allowing additional or top up training that
is site specific instead of delivering a full induction programme to every
individual who is new to a specific site. In time this will hopefully become a
formal qualification that can also be placed on both the Qualification and
Credit Framework (QCF) and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework
(SCQF).
Acceptance
by the individual sites of the BCIS is very important to ensure the agreed standards
are maintained, recognised and adopted across the Nuclear sector.
Please
note: Nuclear sites are located in England,
Scotland and Wales.
This is an
initial phase of a partnership with an Awarding Body type organisation that
will hopefully lead to further work on the review of employer based training in
the future. The Academy is interested to receive submissions from organisations
that are looking to develop this long term relationship.
Applications
would be considered from awarding bodies who are working in partnership to give
the regional coverage in relation to the Regulatory bodies QCA, SQA &
DCELLS.
