Cogent Sector Skills Council will be interviewing and gathering information on all aspects of innovation, design and technology and its impact on company competitiveness and productivity, together with its relationship to workforce development at this year’s Plastic Design and Moulding Exhibition (PDM), which will be held at the Telford International Centre on 12-14 April.
The polymer sector requires innovators, technologists, designers and
highly skilled processing technicians to remain at the forefront of
developments and changes. Cogent is working with companies in the
sector to boost business performance through skills development and to
reduce skills gaps and shortages.
Cogent will be asking visitors to the stand to complete a short
questionnaire, as part of an exercise to gather important information
on the industry and current skills levels. At the end of the
event, Cogent will choose, at random, one completed survey and the
respondent will receive a complimentary Ferrari Experience. The winner
will learn circuit techniques and then complete a number of laps,
finishing with a high-speed passenger ride with a professional driver.
Brian Manning, Cogent’s Polymer Skills Development Adviser said: “We
selected this racing experience as polymers play a significant and
ever- increasing part of the motor-sport and automotive sector and
quite typically demonstrate the innovative and design strengths of UK
industry.
PMD 05 takes place at the Telford International Centre on 12-14 April
2004, in addition to three exhibition halls, there will be conference
sessions, workshops and a design resource centre. Cogent is on stand
M10.
