Cogent Sector Skills Council has expanded its capacity to engage with businesses across the polymer and composites industries by commissioning industry consultant Chris Bayliss to work on the development of a Sector Skills Agreement. Chris Bayliss is well known for his active support and Council roles with PICME and the BPF, and for his experience as Managing Director of sanitary systems producer Geberit UK, and Hutchinson UK in Telford.
“ My passion for skills and training will be no surprise to anybody I’ve worked with, “ said Chris, “ so I’m delighted that Cogent have asked me to specifically focus on engaging with employers to help them interpret and act on the research findings emerging from the Sector Skills Agreement process.”
“I’ll be contacting several key people in the industry in the very near future to develop a clearer picture of their needs and to feed back into the process their views on the emerging data and priorities.”
“I look forward to getting a representative and accurate picture, so please contact me via Cogent if you would like further information, or you would like to help us with our consultation.”

Notes for editors:
Sector Skills Agreements, (SSAs) are compacts between industry and government to ensure that the skills employers need for their businesses are the skills they get. SSAs are a unique opportunity for employers to have a real and lasting influence on education and skills provision across the UK. Sector Skills Councils like Cogent will identify and cost the skills employers need for their workforce to be innovative, competent, productive and profitable now and for the long term.
Cogent’s Sector Skills Agreement will set out how employers in our industries can collaborate with government, with training providers and funding bodies to deliver those skills.
