Vantage - Offshore Passport & Personnel Tracking System - has been developed by the industry-funded organisation LOGIC (Leading Oil and Gas Indutry Competitiveness) as an aid to improving safety across the offshore oil and gas industry. The Vantage system is owned by the offshore operating companies and holds individual personnel details, including medical fitness and tracks offshore trips, durations and workers' competency and training.
Cogent remains the custodian of Emergency Response training and other industry training courses which are delivered through the network of "OPITO Approved" training providers. These records are fed into the Vantage system through a Cogent Central Register.
Individuals are issued with their Vantage cards at the heliports. The cards contain a bar code which links them to the Vantage system and provides access to their personal data. This data can be viewed at the heliport at the time of check in.
The Vantage smart card system removes the need to duplicate training when moving to different offshore locations and increases both operators and offshore workers' confidence that the people involved have achieved the standards set by the offshore industry.
