Cogent has published a summary report outlining its role and economic
impact. Cogent Activity and Impact 2010, supports a recently launched
independent report showing that Sector Skills Councils (SSCs) can
achieve as much as twenty times the amount of funding they receive.
The Cogent publication reports on a number of key performance
indicators, including completion of NVQs in the Sector; apprenticeship
take ups; uptake of Foundation Degrees and the number of training
providers signed up to the Skills Academies’ quality assured networks.
It includes the findings of Baker Tilly’s Evaluating Economic Impact
report which shows that economic benefits generated by SSCs and their
subsidiaries exceed the cost to Government.
Cogent’s own Impact report is also aimed a further boosting
understanding of Cogent’s remit, which is delivered through its 5 “Big
