very rewarding job opportunities in our industries, and despite the fact that
the UK
leads the world in many fields here, there is a low awareness of the range of careers available. Too few bright young people are choosing to
study the necessary qualifications to enter as graduates, and too few people
consider a career that could begin as an apprentice at operator or technician level.
Cogent is
working with employers to see where careers
promotional activity across sectors can be co-ordinated and focused to maximize
the number of people equipped with the science, technology, engineering and
maths skills they need.
Our unique
Career Pathways web-service has been developed with
employers and industry experts to show the entry requirements and the industry
and gold standards for key roles across our industries.
Progression
opportunities are shown in clear, attractive graphic pathways, and brought to
life with real case studies. Cogent is building further features into the site,
including signposting to appropriate education and training provision. Through
collaboration with employers, we will
also add the capacity to match individuals with real vacancies.
