15 Mar 2007 - South East composites companies get set for £200,000 skills boost
The South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA) is providing £200,000 to fund an essential training programme that meets the needs of the composites industry, a high-growth, hi-tech sector which is critical to the economic success of the region. Employers in the sector have a pressing demand for the specialised training, which is not currently supplied by any of the local providers. Cogent is the national skills council for the composites sector, and through its research it identified an urgent need to upskill the composites sector workforce. It will lead on the development of the programme which will boost skills in the companies who sign up.
25 Jan 2007 - Project Director for National Skills Academy for Process Industries Appointed
Craig Crowther has been appointed as Project Director for the National Skills Academy Process Industries, which is made up of the chemicals, pharmaceuticals and polymer industries. Cogent Chief Executive Joanna Woolf said: “We are delighted that Craig is taking up this important role. He has invaluable experience in people development and a tremendous knowledge of skills issues in the process industries. His background as a member of the Skills and Education Team for the North East Process Industries Cluster (NEPIC) gives him an excellent insight into the issues on the ground.”

31 Oct 2006 - Skills Academies Bids Successful
The Department for Education and Skills (DfES) has given the green light to a Process Industries National Skills Academy (PINSA) and a Nuclear National Skills Academy (NNSA). The new Academies will go live at the end of 2007.
08 Aug 2006 - Process Industries National Skills Academy: latest news from DfES
Cogent submitted an Expression of Interest for a Process Industries National Skills Academy, (PINSA) in June this year. The latest news from the DfES is that PINSA has been short-listed for a panel review to take place this September.
