Cogent’s
Upskilling programme will see an integrated approach to both recording and
developing industry-specific skills and will share the Passports web-based
platform. Individuals will be provided with a Cogent Skills Match Card, which will
provide a record of achievement and will be available online. Upskilling represents a seamless progression of modular vocational training to Level
4 with appropriate accredited “step off” points that meet the needs of
employers and employees.
Importantly,
the Upskilling framework will be underpinned by the Cogent Gold Standard
which has now identified the key skills and competency requirements for the
core roles in the chemicals industry, based on world-class industry standards.
This approach will be replicated in each of the Cogent industries.
The
scheme will offer Cogent employers a straightforward route to upskilling the
workforce as well as access to funding for NVQs - including the Train to Gain
service.
This
modular approach, which will include recognition and/or accredication will
boost continuous learning and will include for example Management and
Leadership and Level 4, Project Management and Lean Manufacturing.
