The process industries produce
hundreds of essentials for our daily lives from biofuels and plastics, through
to rubber, synthetic fibres for clothing, pharmaceuticals and crucial chemical
additives which transform, strengthen and make safe many end user products. The
process industries which include chemicals, pharmaceutical and polymers
manufacturing have a combined turnover of £67.1 billion and a Gross Value Added
in excess of £23 billion, which is over 15% of total UK manufacturing GVA.
Skills development is vital to meet
the future needs of UK
process and chemistry based businesses, who are operating in a highly
competitive global marketplace.
What is the model for NSAPI? NSAPI is based on a hub and
spoke model. A small centre will provide leadership and accreditation and a network
of public and private training centres around the UK will deliver the training.
NSAPI covers all the process industries including chemicals, pharmaceuticals and polymers. Based on Cogent defined standards, the Academy
defines and accredit regional provision, which sist within a national
framework (for example training accredited in the South East will will
recognised in the North West). NSAPI ensure this common framework.
What it does?
The Academy:
- delivers high quality training based on world
class standards;
- builds networks with a range of existing learning

learning environment;
- establishes centres of innovation aimed at shaping
training programmes to meet the sectors’ needs;
- be flexible, working closely with employers;
- be part of the formal education system;
