04 Sep 2013

Cogent and the National Skills Academy for Nuclear are delighted to announce their sixth collaborative UK Nuclear Skills Awards Dinner, which will be held at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel, Manchester on the 20th March 2014.

At the Awards Dinner Cogent will present its Award for “Outstanding Leadership in Skills” and is now calling for entries. This award recognises the efforts of an individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to ensure the nuclear sector has the skills it needs to continue to be a world class industry.  2013 winner Dave Whitmore, Engineering and Technical Director for Atkins’ Nuclear business, said: “I am deeply honoured to have received this prestigious award and I’m very proud of the progress we’ve made at Atkins in establishing a solid infrastructure dedicated to the advancement of skills in the nuclear arena. This award recognises the contribution of the people involved in this work and the value of our continuing investment in this area.

All nominations for the 2014 award will be considered by a panel and the winner will be officially announced at the high profile dinner, where they’ll be presented with their award in front of nuclear employers and stakeholders.

Further information regarding the Outstanding Leadership in Skills award or the Awards Dinner can be found here.

The National Skills Academy for Nuclear is also looking for nominations for their awards in the Apprentices, FD/HND Student and Graduate of the Year categories, which will be presented at the Skills Awards evening.  Further information on these can be found on the Skills Academy’s website.  Closing date for entries is the 25th October 2013.
