Apprenticeship Awards 2011 include science-based winners

The climax of the 2011 awards season took place at The Mermaid Theatre in London with the Apprenticeship Awards.

The National Apprenticeship Service said, “the prestigious Awards, hosted by Claire Young, provided a great opportunity to give our best employers and brightest apprentices, the credit they deserve.”

The winning apprentices and employers included several from the science-based industries, including:

Nuclear Decommissioning SLC Award for Medium Employer of the Year
Clarkson Evans (South West)

Unilever & The Outward Bound Trust Award for Young Apprentice of the Year
Syeda Afsana Islam - Health and Social Care (West Midlands)

EDI Award for Apprentice of the Year
Shauni O’Neill - Travel Services, London Underground (London)

EAL Award for Advanced Apprentice of the Year 
Joe Price - Construction, J R Slee Building and Joinery Contractors Ltd (West Midlands)

Rentokil Initial Award for Higher Apprentice of the Year
Shane Allum - ICT Professional, BT (East of England)

Airbus Award for Small Employer of the Year
Fish and Chips @ 149 (Yorkshire and the Humber)

BAE Systems Award for Large Employer of the Year 
Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd (Yorkshire and the Humber)

Cable&Wireless Worldwide Award for Macro Employer of the Year
BAE Systems (South East)
