The Alliance of Sector Skills Councils has announced that it has changed its name to the Federation for Industry Sector Skills and Standards to reflect its new ambitious agenda.
The Federation has also restructured its Board and appointed Brian Wisdom, CEO of People 1st, the sector skills council for hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism, as its new Chairman.
In addition to Brian, the new Board is:
- Joanna Woolf - Cogent
- Mark Farrar - ConstructionSkills
- Dinah Caine - Creative Skillset
- Karen Price - e-skills UK
- Peter Martin - Lantra
- Sarah Sillars - SEMTA
- John Rogers - Skills for Health
Brian Wisdom, the new Chairman, said he was delighted to have been appointed.
“I am absolutely thrilled to take a leading role in supporting the development of employer leadership in resolving the skills gaps and shortages that hamper economic recovery,” he said.
“The fact that I am taking the helm at a time when we’re also revitalising our name and rebuilding a powerful Board of Directors ushers in a new age for both the Federation and the organisations we represent.”
“Our successes to date have been to build a first class national certification service for Apprenticeships which has saved Government and training providers millions of pounds and working with our partners we have exciting plans to improve the quality assurance of Apprenticeships and to reinforce employer ownership of skills. We also work with 550,000 employers to develop skills standards and will continue to broaden and deepen these relationships”
These new appointments follow the appointment of Mark Froud as Managing Director in January.
