New qualifications for the signmaking industry
20 Mar 2012

Cogent, the Sector Skills Council responsible for the Signmaking industry, have supported the development of two new qualifications for this important sector.

The qualifications have been developed in collaboration with employers and PAA\VQ-SET and link closely together to provide the essential skills, knowledge and understanding to operate safely and efficiently in the signmaking industry.

The manufacturing process associated with the creation of signage requires the use of digital printing machinery, cutting machines and various other pieces of high-tech equipment. These new qualifications will provide people with the knowledge and understanding of the hazards and risks associated with their production techniques and equipment used.

Matthew Hardy, Product & Services Manager, Cogent said: “Without really noticing it, the signmaking industry is important to us all. Signmakers in the UK have a long proud history of warning us of potential danger to guiding us to our favourite shops… in an industry that is always keen to innovate we hope that that these new qualifications will provide people with the knowledge to produce even more innovative applications for their products.”
