S-Lab Conference and Awards 2012

The S-Lab Conference and Awards are a unique initiative to create better linkages between, and highlight best practice amongst, all the key players involved in university laboratories as well as representatives from public sector and commercial laboratories and suppliers. They are organised by S-Lab (Safe, Successful and Sustainable Laboratories) in association with the National HE STEM Programme (via the University of Bradford Greening STEM project and Regional Hub).

Conference: The Effective Laboratory - Safe, Successful and Sustainable, York, June 12-13

The programme covers all aspects of lab design, operation and use (for research, teaching and learning and other purposes) in over 50 presentations and should offer networking with over 200 delegates. It features keynote presentations from, amongst others, Wendell Brase, Vice Chancellor for University of California, Irvine; James Naismith, Director of the new Biomedical Science Research Complex at University of St Andrews and James Neil Crossan, Programme Director at AstraZeneca plc. The S-Lab Awards

A new awards scheme which recognises good practice in laboratory design, operation and management in all sectors, and in laboratory-based teaching and learning within educational institutions, that creates improved performance whilst enhancing safety and sustainability. There are seven award categories, and applications for Stage One are now closed. The shortlist for Stage 2 will be announced in mid March. The winners of the Awards will be announced at the S-Lab Conference.
