An upcoming launch event for STEM Business University Gateway or ‘STEMBUG’. The event will be an opportunity for employers and other stakeholders across the NW to be made aware of HEI activities that are aiming to, amongst other things, enhance STEM graduate skills and provide opportunities for STEM workforce development through the development of employer responsive provision.
The National HE STEM Programme has over the past two and half years facilitated the funding of interventions in North West Higher Education Institutions with the aim of:
- providing a clear route/ point of access into HEIs for employers
- improving employability skills recognition, development and articulation among STEM undergraduates
- encouraging HE provision/facilitation of flexible and affordable workforce up-skilling services
- raising awareness of STEM career opportunities among undergraduates
This event will provide an opportunity for businesses and universities to connect on these issues and to gain awareness of the outcomes of some recent North West initiatives to address them. In particular, the event will showcase and launch the STEMBUG (STEM Business University Gateway) interactive web tool. This tool has been developed specifically to lower the barriers for businesses that wish to access HEI services by providing a user friendly platform for accessing HEI expertise. This in turn provides an opportunity for employers to engage in developing STEM curriculum, participate in work-based experiential learning and take up relevant training/expertise available from HEIs.
