Cogent’s Skills Oracle Survey 2010 is now live. It’s a unique project which gathers primary labour market intelligence from companies across the Cogent science using sector.
Skills Oracle involves an expert panel of over 250 employers, and the information they provide is used as a barometer for skills, training and economy tracking.
Julie Plumbley, Cogent Research Advisor, explains: “we’ve relied on national data sources in the past, and our Skills Oracle survey will allow us to drill down to a much more detailed level and get an in-depth view of companies in the Cogent footprint.”
For employers, the data provides a solid benchmark against which to highlight skills needs, and to analyse their own performance and influence future plans.
The project gathers specific company data including demographics, skills gaps, skills shortages and upskilling requirements, apprenticeship uptakes, job vacancies - including the hard to fill positions - and investment in further work related education and training.
Julie added: “Skills Oracle helps us to plan for what lies ahead for the Cogent industries. Strengthening the research data gives a much more accurate barometer with which to predict future skills needs.”
The deadline for completion of the survey is Friday 19th November. Analysis of the raw data will take place in December 2010.
