Her Majesty the Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, today (30th March 2011) visited City and Islington College’s Centre for Applied Sciences. As part of the visit The Queen unveiled a plaque announcing that the Centre has recently been accredited by the National Skills Academy Process Industries as a Centre of Excellence for Biotechnology.
Cogent today announces the forthcoming appointment of Jenny Clucas as Strategy Director for Chemicals and Petrochemicals. Jenny will lead on skills strategy development for these industries, working closely with Cogent’s employer-led Advisory Councils for Chemicals and Downstream.

Cogent today announces the Board appointment of pharmaceutical industry leader and champion Nigel Brooksby. Mr Brooksby will represent the life sciences industry on the Cogent Board, and is also the Chair of the Cogent Life Sciences Skills Strategy Board.
On the 10th March 2011, the nuclear stars of the future were announced during the third annual UK Nuclear Skills Awards Evening in Manchester organised by the National Skills Academy for Nuclear and Cogent Sector Skills Council.
The event was attended by over 300 Nuclear employers, training providers and key stakeholders who came together to celebrate the success and high achievement of the learners nominated for awards.
